Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 September 2026. Applies to war2050.com and the War 2050 game.
We collect your account details and a detailed record of how you play, and we use both to run and develop the game. We do not sell personally identifying information to third parties outside our organisation and the businesses affiliated with it.
1. What we collect
Account information. The username and email address you register with, and a cryptographic hash of your password. We never store your password itself and cannot read it.
How you play. This is extensive and deliberate. We record the actions you take and when you take them: what you build and where, what you train, what you research, where you send expeditions and what you do with them mid-march, what you claim, what you read, which panels you open, how long you stay, when you come back, and what you were doing when you stopped. We record your progression, your resources, your rank, and your standing in a sector.
Purchases. A record of every purchase and every unit of in-game currency issued, spent, or granted to your account, with timestamps.
Technical information. IP address, browser and device characteristics, and server logs including errors your session produced.
Anything you send us. Support emails and anything you write in the game that other players can see.
2. What we do not collect
We do not ask for your real name, your address, your date of birth, or your telephone number, and the game has no reason to hold them.
We do not handle your payment card. Card details are entered with, and held by, a third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and a reference for it. We never see or store your full card number.
3. Why we use it, and how
To run the game. To keep your account, save your progress, place you in a sector, deliver what you buy, and support you when something goes wrong.
To develop the game — and we want to be plain about this. We study how players behave and use what we learn to design and balance War 2050. We look at what people build first, where they get stuck, which routes they take, what they ignore, when they stop playing for the day, and what they do immediately before they leave. We use it to decide what to change, what to add, and what to take out. Play this game and your habits inform how it is built.
To keep it fair and working. To detect cheating, abuse, and attacks on our service, and to diagnose faults.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell personally identifying information to third parties who are not affiliated with our organisation. This is a commitment, not a formality, and it is the point of this section.
We share information in only these circumstances:
- Within our organisation and its affiliates, for the purposes described above.
- With service providers who operate the game on our behalf — hosting, payment processing, email delivery — and only with what they need in order to do that job for us.
- With other players, but only what the game is designed to show: your username, rank, sector, and base position are visible to the people you share a sector with. Your email address, your purchases, and your detailed activity are never shown to another player.
- Where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims, or to protect the safety of a person.
- In a business transfer. If the game or the business is sold or merged, player information may pass to the acquirer, who would be bound by this policy until you are told otherwise.
We may publish or share aggregated and anonymised statistics — how long an average expedition lasts, how many players reach a rank — which cannot identify anyone.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, and to remember choices you have made about confirmation prompts. This is necessary for the game to function; there is no way to play without it. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. How long we keep it
Account and gameplay information is kept for as long as your account exists, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that an account can be restored and abuse investigated. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a short operational period. Anonymised and aggregated data may be kept indefinitely, because it identifies nobody.
7. Security
Connections to War 2050 are encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Access to the production database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that a determined attack will never succeed; if a breach affects you we will tell you where we are required to.
8. Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about your account, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Write to the address below from the email address the account is registered to. Deleting an account removes your ability to play it and forfeits any unspent currency; we may retain what we are legally required to retain, and anonymised records that no longer identify you.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your personal information. Where such a right applies to you, it applies regardless of anything in this policy, and we will honour it.
9. Children
War 2050 is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn that we have, we will delete the account. Purchases made on an account are the responsibility of its holder — see the Refund Policy.
10. Contact
Privacy enquiries and data requests: privacy@war2050.com.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we change it in a way that materially affects how we use your information, we will say so in the game rather than quietly republish the page.
